China launches rocket; Defense Ministry confirms it will pass through Taiwan's ADIZ

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense confirmed on Tuesday that China launched a carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, with its trajectory set to traverse Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) en route to the Western Pacific.

The ministry stated that the armed forces are closely monitoring the situation using various assets, including mission aircraft, naval vessels, and shore-based missile systems. The launch was announced by China, which provided details on the flight path passing through the ADIZ.

This rocket launch occurs against a backdrop of heightened military activity by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) around Taiwan. In the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday morning, Taiwan's defense ministry detected 21 Chinese military aircraft, six warships, and two coast guard vessels operating in the vicinity of the island. Notably, 20 of the detected aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, with some entering Taiwan's northern and southwestern airspace.
