China prepares to face Typhoon Nuri

China's meteorological authorities are bracing for Typhoon Nuri, the twelfth typhoon of the year, as it intensifies and brings strong winds and heavy rains to the country's southern coast.

The typhoon is forecast to make landfall between Hong Kong and Lufeng city in Guangdong province late Saturday or early Sunday. The National Meteorological Center has warned that Guangdong and neighboring regions, including Fujian and Jiangxi, will be directly affected. Residents have been urged to take necessary precautions, avoid non-essential travel, and be aware of potential hazards.

Evacuations are underway across the affected provinces. By Saturday, over 340,000 people had been evacuated in Guangdong province alone. Additionally, more than 23,000 people were evacuated from Fujian province as a precautionary measure against the storm's impact.

The authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines as the typhoon approaches, anticipating disruptions to transportation and potential risks associated with the severe weather conditions.
