China's 301 Hospital Reportedly Hacked; Xi Jinping's MRI Scans Allegedly Leaked

A hacker has claimed to have infiltrated Beijing's 301 Hospital, a facility serving as the primary medical and longevity care base for China's central leadership, allegedly stealing over 400GB of sensitive data.

The purported data breach, disclosed on the X platform by independent cybersecurity researcher "NetAskari," includes claims of obtaining recent MRI scans belonging to Chinese President Xi Jinping. The leaked files allegedly detail scans of Xi's right knee joint, dated July 30th, with information such as his name, date of birth, and medical record number. However, NetAskari stressed that the veracity of these claims could not be confirmed at this stage.

While many have expressed skepticism about the leak, particularly regarding the alleged ease of accessing such high-level state secrets, the incident brings to mind past data breaches involving Chinese entities. NetAskari also shared screenshots of the original data headers (DICOM files) and a potential server directory or network-attached storage (NAS) interface, which indicated a large volume of compressed files possibly containing personal medical information of high-ranking officials from the 301 Hospital.

This alleged hack follows previous incidents, such as the breach of the Tianjin National Supercomputing Center, where highly confidential defense documents were reportedly stolen and offered for sale. Cybersecurity researchers who examined samples from that incident preliminarily assessed its authenticity, underscoring the persistent threat of sophisticated cyberattacks targeting sensitive government and institutional data.
