China's embassy in the Dominican Republic has strongly rejected claims made by the United States regarding espionage and cyberattack risks linked to Chinese technology firms. The embassy dismissed these accusations as "unfounded and defamatory," responding to a U.S. Embassy publication that named companies such as Huawei, ZTE, Hikvision, Hytera, Dahua, and DJI.

The U.S. had asserted that these Chinese companies are subject to Beijing's influence and are legally obligated to cooperate with Chinese intelligence services. This relationship, the U.S. warned, poses risks of espionage, cyberattacks, and network disruptions, prompting calls for partners in the Americas to replace Chinese equipment with alternatives from trusted providers. The U.S. statement did not specifically target any Dominican institutions or companies.

In a statement published on its website, the Chinese diplomatic mission expressed "strong dissatisfaction" and opposition to the allegations, labeling them a "pure invention and a deliberate misrepresentation of reality." The embassy affirmed that Chinese technology companies provide advanced, secure, and competitive products. It further stated that their operations across Latin America and the Caribbean, including the Dominican Republic, comply with local laws and regulations.
