China’s Trade with SCO Members Rises 14.9% in First Seven Months to 2.42 Trillion Yuan

China’s trade with Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states grew at a double-digit rate in the first seven months of the year, reaching 2.42 trillion yuan, according to the General Administration of Customs.

The January-to-July figure, equivalent to about 495.5 trillion South Korean won, increased 14.9% from the same period last year. Machinery and electronic products led China’s export growth to SCO members. Those exports totaled 998.35 billion yuan, up 15.7% year on year, and represented 63.1% of all Chinese exports to the group.

Key products included auto parts, construction machinery and power equipment. Land-based logistics connecting China with Central Asia are also expanding. A recent multimodal freight train carrying auto parts left the SCO International Logistics Park in Lianyungang and reached Kyrgyzstan in 15 days on a route through Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

China is increasing agricultural imports from SCO members as well. A Kyrgyzstan pavilion at the SCO demonstration zone in Qingdao, Shandong province, sells local products including honey, nuts and dairy goods.

According to Jiaozhou Customs, international road freight through the demonstration zone has reached 973 trips since the first international road cargo route opened in September 2023. The transport volume totaled 15,000 tonnes, with cargo valued at about 700 million yuan.
