Chinese ambassador thanks Korean rescue team for saving Chinese survivor in Nepal

Ten days after sudden flooding struck Nepal's Himalayan region, South Korean rescuers pulled a Chinese survivor from a tunnel near a weir dam. They also recovered a body whose nationality had not been identified.

Dai Bing, China's ambassador to South Korea, expressed his gratitude on X. He said one Chinese citizen had been safely rescued by Korean and Nepalese rescue teams in an area hit by landslides and floods along the China-Nepal border.

Dai described the rescue as "a miracle of life" and conveyed his "deep gratitude and respect" to the teams from both countries. He also said he sincerely hoped that all people stranded by the disaster could be rescued safely and return home.

The Korean Emergency Relief Team, known as KDRT, carried out the rescue operation. South Korea's Foreign Ministry said the team found the survivor near the weir-dam tunnel and recovered the unidentified body. The rescue came during the team's search operation in the disaster area.
