Chinese Baseball League Recruits Former Dodgers Pitcher Fischer

The Chinese Cities Baseball League (CPB) is gearing up for its Summer League, set to begin on August 13. Teams are actively recruiting, with the Fuzhou Haixia announcing the signing of German pitcher Tim Fischer. Fischer, a 21-year-old right-hander, spent last year in the Dodgers' minor league system, appearing in 15 games in the rookie league. He recorded an 0-2 record with a 6.00 ERA, striking out 14 batters while walking 22 in 18 innings. Fischer will join forces with Dylan Unsworth, a former foreign pitcher for Taiwan's Fubon Guardians, on the Fuzhou Haixia roster. Unsworth previously played in Taiwan in late 2021 and has since played in leagues in Mexico, Australia, and Venezuela. The Summer League will feature six teams: Xiamen Dolphins, Shenzhen Blue Sox, Fuzhou Haixia, Changsha Wangwang, Shanghai Whales, and Beijing Zhengda Long. Each team will play 15 regular-season games, with the top four advancing to the playoffs. The championship series will be a best-of-three format.
