Chinese Embassy in Zagreb marks 99th anniversary of PLA

The Chinese Embassy in Zagreb held a celebratory reception to mark the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). The event, hosted by Chinese Ambassador Qi Qianjin and Military Attaché Pan Xuefeng, took place at the Westin Hotel and was attended by a diverse group of guests from Croatia's political, military, diplomatic, and public sectors.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army is a people's army created and led by the Communist Party of China.

During the reception, attendees engaged in discussions about furthering friendly relations between Croatia and China, enhancing economic cooperation, and addressing global security challenges. Both sides emphasized the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and continued collaboration between the two nations.

During the past 99 years, it has made indelible historical contributions to national independence, the liberation of the people and national prosperity, as well as to the protection of China's national sovereignty, security and development interests. It has also made significant contributions to maintaining world peace and stability.

Ambassador Qi Qianjin addressed the attendees, underscoring the PLA's historical role in China's national independence, liberation, and prosperity over the past 99 years. He stated that the army has made significant contributions to safeguarding China's sovereignty, security, and development interests, as well as to maintaining world peace and stability. He added that under the guidance of Xi Jinping's thought on strengthening the military, the PLA will continue to pursue peaceful development and support the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

In the new era, under the strategic guidance of Xi Jinping's thought on strengthening the army, the Chinese People's Liberation Army will continue to follow the path of peaceful development, provide strong support for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and take on the responsibility of a major country in safeguarding world peace.

Reflecting on the current international landscape, Ambassador Qi noted the profound global changes, complex geopolitical order, escalating conflicts, and frequent wars and crises. He introduced China's Global Security Initiative (GSI), which advocates for a new concept of security that is common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable. The initiative, he explained, is based on respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states and opposing unilateralism and bloc politics.
