Chinese-made drone forms basis of Ukraine's new long-range weapon

Ukrainian forces have successfully deployed a sophisticated long-range drone, the MICH-2000, capable of striking targets up to 2,000 kilometers away. This advanced unmanned aerial vehicle is operated exclusively by the Special Operations Centre Alpha of Ukraine's Security Service.

The MICH-2000's development began in late 2023 when Ukrainian UAV developers traveled to China to acquire ready-made civilian drones for military adaptation. This initiative laid the groundwork for what is now considered a crucial "deep-strike" UAV system for the Ukrainian military.

With a flight range of up to 2,000 kilometers and an explosive payload capacity of 60 kilograms, the MICH-2000 has been instrumental in recent attacks on Russian targets. Analysts initially struggled to identify the drone used in strikes, noting its resemblance to Iranian Shahed models and other foreign designs, but it is now confirmed to be a Ukrainian adaptation.

This Ukrainian-developed drone represents a significant expansion of the country's long-range strike capabilities, allowing for operations deep within Russian territory and demonstrating Ukraine's growing innovation in military technology.
