About Ukrainska Pravda
Ukrainska Pravda was founded in April 2000 by Heorhii Gongadze and Olena Prytula. In May 2021, founding editor Olena Prytula transferred 100% of the publication's corporate rights and assets to Dragon Capital, an investment firm led by Tomรกลก Fiala, who pledged non-interference in editorial policy.
Ukrainska Pravda was established in response to censorship and has a history of independent and investigative journalism, with its founder Heorhii Gongadze and another journalist, Pavlo Sheremet, having been murdered in connection with their reporting. Media Bias/Fact Check rates the outlet as Left-Center biased due to story selection and moderate left-leaning editorial positions, while also assigning it a 'Mostly Factual' rating and 'High Credibility.' The Institute of Mass Information has consistently included Ukrainska Pravda in its 'white list' for high accuracy and adherence to journalistic standards. In October 2024, Ukrainska Pravda reported experiencing 'systematic pressure' from the Office of the President of Ukraine, including attempts to influence editorial policy and hinder journalistic work.
