Cho Ray Hospital sets new record with 10,000 patient visits in a day

Cho Ray Hospital recorded 10,000 patient visits in a single day on Sept. 7, setting a new record for the southern Vietnamese hospital. The total included 8,819 outpatient visits and 1,181 same-day treatment cases.

The figure exceeded the previous peak of 9,021 visits, recorded on May 6, 2026. Faced with the sudden increase, the hospital activated its entire operating system at the highest level, from outpatient clinics and day-treatment areas to doctors, nurses and support personnel.

Hospital leaders said medical staff remained at reception points to welcome patients and provide timely care. The hospital also streamlined its triage process to limit congestion and speed up treatment throughout the visit.

To reduce waiting and fatigue during periods of heavy demand, Cho Ray recommended that patients book appointments in advance through the “BV Chợ Rẫy” mobile app. Users can select their preferred time slot and specialty.

Cho Ray is a special-class general hospital under Vietnam’s Ministry of Health and has operated for more than 125 years. It has more than 3,200 beds and nearly 4,300 staff members. Each year, it handles almost 2 million outpatient visits, more than 143,000 inpatient cases and about 45,000 surgeries, including more than 30% requiring advanced or specialized techniques.
