Choose kindness, actress Mo Bimpe opens up on infertility stigma

Nollywood actress Adebimpe Oyebade, popularly known as Mo Bimpe, has asked people to respond to infertility with compassion rather than assumptions. In an Instagram post, she said people should be allowed to tell their own stories without others interpreting their experiences for them.

Mo Bimpe, who is married to fellow actor Lateef Adedimeji, said her direct messages were filled with women describing what they had gone through. She urged people to invite others to social activities and include them, while leaving them free to decide what they can and cannot handle.

One thing I’ve learned is that kindness should never be assumed on behalf of someone else. It hurts to hear what women are going through; my DMs are full.

“Please let’s do better. Invite people. Call them. Include them. Then allow them decide what they can and cannot handle,” she wrote. Her comments came days after she spoke about feeling excluded from some gatherings during the period when she did not have children.
