Chou Tien-chen reaches China Open final, to face Popov for season's first title

Veteran Taiwanese badminton player Chou Tien-chen advanced to the finals of the China Open after defeating compatriot Lin Chun-yi in the semifinals. The 36-year-old Chou secured a straight-sets victory with scores of 21-18 and 21-17, marking his fourth consecutive win against Lin.

Chou, nicknamed 'The Little Sky,' controlled the pace of the match from the start, employing varied offensive strategies to limit Lin's powerful smashes. Despite Lin's efforts to close the gap in the first set, Chou clinched it with a decisive smash and an opponent's error. In the second set, Chou adapted well to the challenging side of the court, effectively using his smashes and drop shots to force errors from Lin.

This victory follows Chou's early exit from the Japan Open the previous week. In the China Open, he had previously defeated Canada's Yang Chan, Japan's Kanta Tsuneyama, and world number one Shi Yuqi. This marks Chou's first final appearance since winning the Arctic Open in October of the previous year.
