Table Tennis: Lin Yun-ju leads defending champions to 4-0 sweep, earns MVP honors

Taiwanese table tennis star Lin Yun-ju kicked off the Japanese professional T.League season with a dominant performance, leading Kinoshita Meister Tokyo to a decisive 4-0 shutout against TT Saitama. The match, held as part of the league's overseas opening in Hsinchu, Taiwan, saw Lin named MVP for his crucial contributions.

Lin, ranked world No. 7, continued his flawless record from the previous season, where he went undefeated in both singles and doubles matches, leading Kinoshita Meister Tokyo to the championship. He secured the team's third point by defeating world No. 95 Hayatoji Muto in straight sets, with scores of 11-3, 11-8, and 11-3.

The opening doubles match featured Koki Niwa and Katsuhiro Yoshimura, who secured a swift victory with scores of 11-8 and 11-8. Yoshimura then extended the team's lead by winning his singles match in three sets. Despite Kinoshita Meister Tokyo holding a commanding 3-0 lead, the fourth point was played according to league rules. South Korean player Park Kang-hyun of Tokyo clinched the final point, defeating Sone Sho in a five-set thriller.

With this commanding victory, Kinoshita Meister Tokyo has made a strong start to their title defense. Lin Yun-ju's MVP performance underscores his importance to the team as they aim for another championship in the T.League.
