CHP Replaces İzmir Provincial Chairman, Sparks Protest

Following a meeting of the Republican People's Party's (CHP) Central Executive Board (MYK) under Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's leadership, the party's headquarters announced significant changes in its İzmir provincial organization. Çağatay Güç, the incumbent CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman, and his provincial executive committee have been removed from their positions.

Utku Gümrükçü, who previously served two terms as the Mayor of Çiğli, has been appointed as the new CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman. The announcement was made by party spokesperson Müslüm Sarı, representing the faction referred to as the 'absolute nullity' administration.

In a related development, Çağatay Güç has been removed from his post as CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman. He has also been referred to the High Disciplinary Board (YDK) with a demand for permanent expulsion, pending a precautionary measure. This move signals a significant internal shift within the party's provincial leadership in İzmir.

Supporters gathered at the CHP İzmir provincial headquarters expressed their discontent with the decision, chanting slogans such as "There is no salvation alone, either together or none of us." The protests highlight the internal divisions and strong reactions to the leadership changes within the party.
