Chris Gotterup wins John Deere Classic for third PGA Tour victory of season

Chris Gotterup captured his third PGA Tour title of the season by winning the John Deere Classic on Sunday. The American golfer carded a final-round 9-under-par 62, including nine birdies and no bogeys, to reach a total of 20-under-par 264.

Gotterup held a share of the lead with Ben Cole at the start of the 18th hole. However, Cole's hopes for his first PGA Tour win were dashed when he hit his second shot into the water, resulting in a double bogey and a tie for third place. Gotterup, meanwhile, secured the victory with a par on the final hole, finishing one stroke ahead of fellow American Max Homa, who ended the tournament at 19-under-par 265.

This victory adds to Gotterup's impressive season, which includes earlier wins at the Sony Open in January and the Phoenix Open in February. Notably, four of his five career PGA Tour victories have come in the last 12 months, highlighting his recent surge in performance.

Among the Korean contingent, Kim Joo-hyung finished the tournament tied for 46th place after a final round that saw him record three birdies and three bogeys. His performance resulted in a drop from 57th to 58th in the FedEx Cup standings. To qualify for the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the St. Jude Championship, Kim needs to remain within the top 70.

Im Sung-jae also struggled in the final round, losing five strokes and finishing the tournament tied for 71st place at 3-under-par 281.
