Christian Group Congratulates Adeleke on Osun Re-election

The Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Nigeria Region, has extended congratulations to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke following his re-election over the weekend. The congratulatory message, dated August 16, highlights Adeleke's victory as a well-deserved outcome reflecting the significant trust placed in him by the people of Osun State.

Your victory at the polls is a significant expression of the confidence and trust which the good people of Osun State have reposed in your leadership and administration.

In a letter signed by OAIC Regional Secretary Snr. Ap. Joe O. Okoh, on behalf of Regional President HME Elder Israel Akinadewo, the organization views Adeleke's renewed mandate as a crucial opportunity to build upon his first-term achievements. The OAIC expressed hope that this second term will further promote peace, unity, welfare, and socio-economic development within Osun State.

As an Indigenous Christian body committed to peace, good governance, and justice, the OAIC Nigeria Region joins Adeleke's family, government, and the people of Osun State in celebrating this electoral success. The organization prayed for divine wisdom, sound health, courage, and discernment for the governor as he commences his new term, wishing for greater development, prosperity, peace, and progress for all residents, regardless of their affiliations.

Governor Adeleke, representing the Accord Party, secured victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election, announced by INEC on August 16. He garnered 511,067 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, who received 444,815 votes. Adeleke won in 19 out of the state's 30 local government areas, underscoring his broad support base. The election saw 15 candidates, but the contest primarily focused on Adeleke and Oyebamiji.
