Christopher Nolan honored by first visit to South Korea, enjoys Han River and 'salty bread'

Director Christopher Nolan described his first visit to South Korea as an honor, expressing a desire to spend more time in the "great city" of Seoul. Nolan, accompanied by actors Matt Damon and Charlize Theron, attended a press conference for their film 'Odyssey' at the Four Seasons Hotel. He shared his enjoyment of walking along the Han River, noting its beauty despite the heat, and relished trying Korean "salty bread" (sogumppang), which he found delicious.

Hello, everyone. It is an honor to be here. I have wanted to come to Korea for a very long time, and this is my first visit. Thank you for coming.

Nolan, who has a significant following in South Korea with over 36 million admissions for his previous films like 'Interstellar' and 'Oppenheimer,' was warmly welcomed by fans. Producer Emma Thomas also shared her positive impressions of Seoul, highlighting the natural scenery along the Han River and even a visit to a local Olive Young store. She humorously noted that Nolan found the heat challenging, but she thoroughly enjoyed their time.

We had a little time, so we were able to look around Seoul and walk along the Han River. It was so beautiful, but it was very hot. And there were many places to cool down, so we looked around and ate salty bread, which was very delicious.

The film 'Odyssey' centers on the hero Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, as he embarks on a journey to return to his wife Penelope and son Telemachus after the Trojan War. The cast also includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. The film is scheduled for release on August 5th, with a red carpet event planned for August 4th to engage with local fans.
