Chuseok holiday sees 'budget short-haul' travel; Herewego reports 540,000 won average for Southeast Asia packages

Travel platform Herewego revealed that the average spending per person on Southeast Asia package tours during this year's Chuseok holiday dropped significantly by 46% compared to last year. The platform analyzed booking data and found that last year's average payment was around 1 million won, whereas this year's figure stands at approximately 540,000 won.

Herewego attributes this sharp decline to the shorter duration of the Chuseok holiday this year. In response to the condensed break, travel agencies have reportedly intensified their promotional efforts and price advantages for short-haul travel packages. This strategy aims to attract travelers looking for more accessible and budget-friendly options during the limited holiday period.

The trend suggests a shift in consumer behavior, with travelers prioritizing cost-effectiveness and shorter travel times. As the holiday period shortens, the appeal of long-distance travel diminishes, leading to a greater focus on destinations that offer a good balance of experience and affordability within a limited timeframe.
