Cimahi police uncover 80 drug cases and seize contraband worth Rp4.1 billion

Cimahi police say they have uncovered 80 narcotics and restricted-medicine cases in one month, arresting 91 suspects in an operation across the Bandung area.

The arrests included two alleged repeat offenders. Police recorded 20 methamphetamine cases involving 22 suspects, 16 synthetic-tobacco cases involving 17 suspects, two cannabis cases involving two suspects, 39 restricted-medicine cases involving 47 suspects and three psychotropic-drug cases involving three suspects.

Over the past month, the Cimahi Narcotics Investigation Unit uncovered 80 narcotics crime cases involving a total of 91 suspects. Of the 91 suspects, two were repeat offenders in narcotics cases.

The seized evidence included 361.64 grams of methamphetamine, 38.70 grams of cannabis, 4,709.23 grams of synthetic tobacco, 8,164 psychotropic pills, 1.77 grams of ecstasy and 653,321 restricted-medicine tablets. The medicines included tramadol, trihexyphenidyl, Hexymer, Double Y and DMP.

All the evidence, if converted into rupiah, is worth approximately Rp4.1 billion and has saved around 672,000 people.

Cimahi police chief AKBP Moh. Faruk Rozi said the total value of the evidence reached about Rp4.1 billion. He said the seizures had potentially protected around 672,000 people. Police said the suspects and seized items were linked to distribution in Cimahi, West Bandung regency, Bandung city and Bandung regency.

Faruk said the police would continue targeting narcotics, psychotropic substances and restricted medicines. He also urged residents to report signs of illegal distribution.
