“Citizen Contact” Begins a New Chapter With Ana Lezcano and Jorge Montefilpo

“Contacto ciudadano” is starting a new stage this Saturday, bringing radio, television and streaming together in a single broadcast hosted by Ana Lezcano and Jorge Montefilpo.

The program will air from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. on ABC Cardinal 730 AM, ABC TV and the ABC Paraguay YouTube channel. Its stated aim is to offer a first point of contact between the day’s news and the public, with verified information, interviews and analysis.

Lezcano, who has spent 10 years at ABC, said her experience in digital journalism and fast-paced daily news had also allowed her to focus on social and environmental issues. Special reporting trips, particularly to Paraguay’s interior, brought her closer to different realities and helped her develop investigative skills.

Lezcano said the program would not limit itself to recounting the week’s events. “We want to know what people think, what concerns them, what they report, what they celebrate and what stories they have to share,” she said. Montefilpo, who returns to a program he had previously joined in 2018, also described the new cycle as a challenge.
