City Boy Movement committed to national development, says Seyi Tinubu

The City Boy Movement, once primarily a campaign vehicle, has evolved into a nationwide organization dedicated to national development and citizen engagement, according to its patron, Seyi Tinubu. Speaking at the movement's National Retreat in Abuja, Tinubu highlighted this transformation, urging members to become active ambassadors of the Federal Government’s "Renewed Hope Agenda."

This is more than just the opening of a retreat. It is the beginning of a movement. It is the coming together of men and women who have chosen to dedicate their time, energy and talents to the service of Nigeria and the advancement of the Renewed Hope vision.

During the retreat, speakers stressed the importance of stronger grassroots engagement, increased youth participation in governance, and sustained public support for the ongoing national reforms initiated by the administration. Tinubu commended the members for their commitment, noting their travel from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as a testament to selfless leadership and belief in a cause greater than themselves.

You have travelled from every corner of our great nation not because you were compelled to, but because you believe in a cause that is greater than yourselves. That spirit of sacrifice is what defines leadership.

Tinubu described the City Boy Movement as a "strong family foundation, a national network of committed patriots and a symbol of resilience, loyalty and purposeful engagement." He acknowledged the members' efforts in mobilizing volunteers, encouraging youth involvement in governance, and promoting democratic values. However, he cautioned against complacency, stating that the movement has "only scratched the surface" and that its "greatest victory is still ahead."

Addressing the Tinubu administration's reforms, Seyi Tinubu acknowledged the significant economic and security challenges inherited by President Bola Tinubu. He pointed to the bold policies implemented to stabilize the economy, improve public finances, expand infrastructure, attract investment, strengthen security, and enhance education. Recognizing that many Nigerians are still experiencing the impact of these reforms, he urged movement members to communicate government policies with empathy and factual accuracy, emphasizing that engagement must be "responsible, factual and compassionate."
