Civil servant in Lampung shot dead over debt dispute

A civil servant in Lampung, Indonesia, was killed after being shot in the head during a confrontation over a debt dispute. Dedi Christian Agung, 40, died on May 25, 2026, following the shooting incident that occurred on the evening of May 23 in Metro Barat, Lampung.

Witnesses reported that the victim struck the suspect, who then produced a suspected firearm and shot Agung in the right temple. The suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle after firing two shots into the air. Agung was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a larger facility, where medical staff confirmed his death.
