CK Raut Becomes Progressive Front Spokesperson; Coalition to Wait for Provincial Elections Before Joining Government

Dr. Chandra Kant (CK) Raut, chairman of the Janamat Party, has been appointed the new spokesperson for the Progressive Front. The decision was made during a meeting of the front's constituent parties on Tuesday, and Raut has already issued a press statement in his new capacity.

The coalition, which includes Upendra Yadav’s Janata Samajwadi Party, Raut’s Janamat Party, and Prabhu Sah’s Aam Janata Party, along with the Nagarik Unmukti Party, Progressive Democratic Party, Nepal Federal Socialist Party, Bahujan Ekata Party, and Khambuwan Rastriya Morcha, has also resolved not to join the current government. This decision comes with the condition that they will wait until after the upcoming provincial elections.

The Progressive Front has articulated its core objective as uniting various democratic, progressive, socialist, and inclusive political forces within Nepal. A central tenet of their platform is a steadfast commitment to safeguarding the nation's sovereignty, national independence, territorial integrity, and overall national unity.
