Clashes Ignite Vehicles, Store in Zitácuaro, Michoacán; Roadblocks Emerge

A wave of violence swept through Zitácuaro, Michoacán, leaving a trail of destruction. Clashes in the Tenencia de Aputzio led to the burning of three vehicles, a passenger bus, and a convenience store in various parts of the municipality.

Following the confrontations, transport workers associated with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which operates in the region, erected blockades in the municipal seat. These actions disrupted traffic and heightened tensions in the area.

Security forces, including the Guardia Civil, were deployed to remove the blockades and restore order on the roads. Residents of Zitácuaro, located about 170 kilometers from the state capital, took to social media to describe the terror they experienced during the day of violence, which occurred in an area bordering the State of Mexico.

Authorities in the region declined to provide specific information regarding the groups involved in the firefights in Aputzio or the exact casualties resulting from the incidents. This lack of official detail adds to the uncertainty surrounding the events.
