Clerics urge Christians to live beyond wealth, build lasting legacy

Clerics have called on Christians to live lives dedicated to God and to serving humanity selflessly, urging them to build legacies that endure beyond material wealth. The message was delivered in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during a candlelight procession commemorating the second anniversary of the passing of the late Rev. Fola Achudume.

Achudume, who died on August 3, 2024, was the co-founder of Victory Life Bible Church International and founder of Royal Ladies International. The two-day remembrance program concluded with prayers, tributes, and an educational empowerment presentation. Senior Pastor of Faith and Miracle Church, Rev. Femi Adesina, in his memorial message, posed the question, “What will God remember you for?” He stressed that lasting impact comes not from possessions like houses or cars, but from one's service to God, love for humanity, and the positive influence on others' lives.

Rev. Adeoye Adeyanju, Assistant General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church International, encouraged church members to uphold Achudume's legacy by emulating her dedication to God, evangelism, and humanitarian service. He stated that the most meaningful tribute would be to continue the values she championed, rather than simply commemorating her life annually.

It is not how long one lives but how well one lives. People will not remember your houses, your cars or the money in your account. They will remember your service to God, your love for humanity and the lives you touched.

A significant highlight of the event was the presentation of an educational empowerment package to Olatinko Imo, the sole beneficiary of the RFA Educational Empowerment Initiative. Pastor Funmi Adeyanju presented the package, noting that it perfectly reflected Achudume's deep commitment to education and uplifting lives, saying, "If Mama were here today, this is exactly what she would have done. Mama lives on, and her legacy lives on."

During the testimony session, attendees shared how Achudume's prayers, counsel, generosity, and teachings profoundly impacted their lives. She was remembered as a mentor, a teacher of the Word, a prayer warrior, and a compassionate mother. Apostle Lawrence Achudume, General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church International and the deceased's husband, spoke emotionally about his grief, recalling his inability to pray or study scriptures for a period after her passing.
