Clint Eastwood ends his career at 96: An era concludes for Hollywood

Clint Eastwood, the legendary filmmaker and actor, has officially retired from the film industry at the age of 96. The confirmation came discreetly from his son, musician Kyle Eastwood, during an interview with France 3. This marks the end of a prolific seven-decade career that has left an indelible mark on cinematic history.

Kyle Eastwood shared that his father, who celebrated his 96th birthday on May 31, is now retired. "I have many good memories of our collaboration. Now he is retired, he is 95. But I was very lucky to be able to work with him on many films. It was a great experience for me," he said, reflecting on their shared work.

Eastwood's career began in 1955 with an uncredited role in "Revenge of the Creature." He rose to stardom in the 1959 television series "Rawhide" and gained international fame with Sergio Leone's "Dollars Trilogy." As a director since 1971, he explored various genres, including westerns, thrillers, war films, dramas, biopics, and musicals, with notable works like "Unforgiven," "The Bridges of Madison County," "Mystic River," "Million Dollar Baby," "Gran Torino," and "American Sniper."

His last on-screen appearance was in "Cry Macho" in 2021, and his final directorial effort, the legal thriller "Juror No. 2," was released in 2024, starring Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette. Eastwood was known for his calm, efficient, and unique working method on set, often completing scenes in a single take with his long-standing crew, as described by actress Laura Linney.
