CMIF: How to get medical care for a child with a foreign passport in Kyrgyzstan

Children holding foreign passports in Kyrgyzstan face limitations in accessing medical services compared to Kyrgyz citizens, according to the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund (CMIF).

The fund clarified that a child's foreign passport signifies their citizenship in another nation. Consequently, they are not eligible for the state guarantee program on the same terms as Kyrgyz citizens, even if their parents are Kyrgyz nationals.

However, a significant exception applies to children whose parents are citizens of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries and are officially employed in Kyrgyzstan. If their employer contributes to medical insurance premiums, these children can obtain a compulsory medical insurance policy for 1,840 som. This policy allows them to receive medical care on par with Kyrgyz citizens.

But there is an important exception. If parents are citizens of EAEU countries, officially work in Kyrgyzstan, and the employer pays medical insurance contributions for them, their child with a foreign passport can get an OMC policy for only 1,840 som (at the tariff for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic). With this policy, the child receives medical care on equal terms with citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
