Co-accused in Ryan Wedding drug case to be extradited to U.S.

Rolan Sokolovski, a Toronto jeweler accused of laundering hundreds of millions of dollars for an international drug smuggling ring, has agreed to be extradited to the United States. Sokolovski consented to his extradition in a Toronto courtroom on Tuesday, paving the way for him to face charges in the U.S.

Sokolovski is alleged to have facilitated money laundering for the criminal organization, reportedly led by former Olympian Ryan Wedding, through his jewelry business. Court documents indicate he is also accused of acquiring multiple high-value items for Wedding, including a rare Mercedes valued at $13 million.

With Sokolovski's consent secured, the Canadian federal minister of justice must now issue a surrender order. The timeline for this process remains unclear. U.S. authorities have indicted Sokolovski on charges including conspiracy to distribute and possess cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to export cocaine, and conspiracy to launder money.

Ryan Wedding himself was arrested earlier this year in Mexico City and subsequently transported to California. He has pleaded not guilty to numerous drug trafficking and murder charges.
