Coast Guard rescues elderly woman collapsed in Ulsan heatwave

South Korean Coast Guard officers rescued a woman in her 70s who had collapsed on a street in Ulsan amid a relentless heatwave. The incident occurred near the Jangsaengpo dedicated pier when officers on patrol discovered the woman.

Upon finding her, the officers noted that the woman was conscious but disoriented and suffering from minor bruises. They promptly administered first aid, using ice packs to lower her body temperature, before transferring her to emergency medical services. This rescue highlights the dangers posed by the extreme heat and the swift response of the Ulsan Coast Guard.

This was not the only heat-related emergency the Ulsan Coast Guard responded to that day. Earlier in the afternoon, another woman collapsed and received joint emergency treatment from the Coast Guard and 119 emergency services before being sent home. A spokesperson for the Ulsan Coast Guard urged the public to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks during outdoor activities due to the ongoing severe heatwave, advising immediate reporting of any unusual symptoms.
