"Coco 2" to Explore Teenage Years of Protagonist Miguel

Pixar's highly anticipated sequel to "Coco" will see protagonist Miguel transition into adolescence, Disney announced Friday. The film, set against the backdrop of Mexico's traditional Day of the Dead celebration, is slated for release in November 2029.

During the D23 convention in Anaheim, California, actor Benjamin Bratt, who reprises his role as the legendary singer Ernesto de la Cruz, shared insights into the new film. He described the teenage Miguel as "older, in his adolescent years, but still with his guitar strapped to his back," while showcasing early images of the character.

Bratt expressed his eagerness to return to the role, joking about coming "back from the dead." The sequel will continue the emotional story of Miguel, a young Mexican boy who defied his family's ban on music to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician. In the original film, he accidentally journeyed to the vibrant Land of the Dead during the Day of the Dead festivities.
