Colapinto awaits Alpine updates and 2027 seat confirmation as F1 resumes

Amidst the championship battles involving Mercedes and Ferrari, Argentinian driver Franco Colapinto is keenly awaiting developments. His focus is twofold: understanding the upgrades Alpine plans to introduce for its A526 car, hoping to revive its performance after a promising start and a lackluster first half of the season, and securing confirmation of his racing seat for 2027 with the Enstone-based team.

Colapinto recently shared his anticipation on Instagram with a post captioned, "The party's over. Let's go, we're back! So ready, can't wait for some races." The post featured photos from Monaco with fellow driver José María "Pechito" López. Both drivers reside in the principality and utilize their limited downtime for training. López, a five-time world champion across touring cars and the World Endurance Championship, has been mentoring Colapinto, sharing his home and assisting with cycling and simulator training.

Imola [the dog's name] already misses you," López commented on Colapinto's post, which showed them in cycling gear, preparing a bike, and Colapinto refueling after a ride. Colapinto has been diligently working on his physical fitness and driving skills, both on the simulator and through cycling, to prepare for Alpine's anticipated A526 upgrades. He also participated in Pirelli's 2027 tire testing at the Nürburgring following the last race in Hungary and is set to return to the Enstone factory to assist with the development of the promised improvements before the Zandvoort race.
