Colapinto Tops F1 Power Ranking After Strong Canadian GP Showing; Gasly Struggles

Franco Colapinto delivered a stellar performance at the Canadian Grand Prix, securing his best-ever Formula 1 result and achieving the highest score in the F1 Power Ranking. The Argentine driver showcased a significant resurgence in his A526 model over the last two races, marking a weekend of triumph in Montreal.

Colapinto's impressive 9.2 score in the Power Ranking for his performance at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve tied with Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari, who finished second. This marks Hamilton's best result since joining the Scuderia last year. The Power Ranking is an evaluation system where five judges score each driver based on their weekend performance, excluding mechanical factors. These scores are then averaged for a race rating, which accumulates throughout the season.

The Argentine driver overcame a challenging start in Canada, missing the only practice session due to a car issue. Despite this, he qualified 13th for the Sprint race, finishing ninth, just outside the points. Later, in qualifying for the main Grand Prix, he reached Q3 for the second time in 2026. He capped off the weekend by finishing sixth in the Grand Prix, his highest F1 placement to date, demonstrating a secure drive and proving to be the fastest in the midfield. He capitalized on retirements from George Russell (Mercedes) and Lando Norris (McLaren), alongside errors from Oscar Piastri (McLaren).
