Cold front approaches: When it will hit hardest and in which areas

Paraguay is preparing for a substantial temperature decrease as a cold front approaches, with forecasts predicting the most significant impact starting Thursday. The Dirección de Meteorología e Hidrología (DMH) anticipates a marked drop in temperatures nationwide.

The coldest conditions are expected to arrive by Friday morning, especially affecting the southern regions of the country. Cities like Encarnación, San Juan Bautista, and Pilar could see temperatures plummet to as low as 4°C. Other areas in the center and east, including Caazapá, Paraguarí, and Villarrica, will also experience very cold to cool weather, with minimums ranging from 5°C to 6°C.

In the capital, Asunción, Thursday will still see moderate temperatures with a low of 11°C. However, Friday is projected to bring the peak of the cold, with an estimated minimum of 7°C and a maximum not exceeding 14°C. Residents will need to don their heaviest coats. Meanwhile, the Western Region, or Chaco, is expected to remain slightly warmer, with minimums between 10°C and 12°C in areas like Mariscal Estigarribia and Fuerte Olimpo.
