College Student Remanded Further in Infant Death Case

A college student in Kluang has had his remand extended by one day as investigations continue into the discovery of a baby girl's body with stab wounds. The 19-year-old suspect appeared at the Kluang Magistrate's Court, where his remand order was extended to assist police inquiries under Sections 302 and 315 of the Penal Code.

Initially, the suspect was detained on July 30 for seven days, which concluded today. His arrest followed a report about a female student being admitted to the hospital for suspected recent childbirth. Further investigation at the female student's rented accommodation led to the grim discovery.

Authorities found the deceased infant in a toilet bowl at a residence in Taman Setia Mutiara. Preliminary findings indicated that the baby sustained several stab wounds. The female college student remains hospitalized at Hospital Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom (HEBHK) Kluang to receive medical treatment.
