Collision at Intersection: Ambulance in Service Crashes with Car – Three Injured

An ambulance responding with lights and sirens overturned after colliding with a car at an intersection in Kaiserslautern. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when the ambulance reportedly entered the intersection against a red light.

The car it struck was also proceeding through the intersection at the time of the collision. The force of the impact caused the ambulance to tip onto its side. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene.

Three individuals sustained injuries in the crash. The 25-year-old driver of the ambulance and her passenger suffered minor injuries. The driver of the car, a 61-year-old man, also received treatment for minor injuries. All three were transported to a hospital for medical evaluation and care. Fortunately, there were no patients inside the ambulance at the time of the accident.

Police estimate the total damage to both vehicles to be approximately 180,000 euros, with both vehicles suffering total loss. Investigations into the precise cause of the accident are ongoing. The incident highlights the risks involved in emergency response driving, even when adhering to protocols like using lights and sirens.
