Colo Colo beats Everton in a thriller and continues to hold ground in the Primera League

Colo Colo secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over Everton at the Estadio Sausalito in Viña del Mar, strengthening their grip on the Liga de Primera lead. The match, a highlight of the 17th round, saw both teams exchange blows in a high-scoring encounter.

Everton initially took the lead in the 24th minute through Alan Medina, who finished well inside the area. Colo Colo equalized in the 32nd minute with a skillful finish from Maximiliano Romero. Álvaro Madrid then put Everton ahead with a goal against his former club. The first half concluded with Everton extending their lead to 3-1 after a penalty, awarded following a VAR review for a handball by Tomás Alarcón, was converted by Medina for his second goal.

In the second half, Colo Colo mounted a comeback. Leandro Hernández scored in the 53rd minute, assisted by Madrid, to bring the score to 3-2. However, Everton quickly responded, with Julián Alfaro equalizing just two minutes later. Colo Colo's persistence paid off when Maximiliano Romero scored his second goal in the 62nd minute, capitalizing on a pass from Leandro Hernández, to seal the victory for the visitors.

With this win, Colo Colo remains at the top of the Liga de Primera standings with 41 points. Everton sits in eighth place with 23 points. Colo Colo is scheduled to play Unión La Calera next, while Everton will face Huachipato.
