Colo Colo seeks to sign Vozinha, the revelation goalkeeper of the World Cup

Colo Colo, the current leader of the Chilean league, has expressed interest in signing Cabo Verdean goalkeeper Josimar José Évora Dias, widely known as Vozinha. Vozinha emerged as a revelation during the 2026 World Cup, earning a spot on the tournament's ideal team selected by FIFA fan votes.

Adilson dos Santos, Vozinha's agent, confirmed that discussions have taken place with the Chilean club. "We have spoken with Colo Colo two or three times," dos Santos told Chilean radio station ADN, emphasizing that "nothing is concrete yet." The agent also noted that other clubs are in pursuit of the 40-year-old player, who is currently without a contract after his stint with Portugal's second-division team Chaves concluded.

Dos Santos conveyed that Vozinha is "extremely happy" about Colo Colo's interest, calling the club a "great in South America" and suggesting that representing them would be a "great opportunity" for the goalkeeper. Vozinha's popularity surged during the World Cup, attracting 30 million followers on Instagram due to his performances. Chilean media reports suggest the interest stems from club president Aníbal Mosa, particularly after the club failed to sign Uruguayan goalkeeper Santiago Mele, who opted for Argentinian club Independiente.

Despite the reported interest from Colo Colo, Chilean sports press indicates that Vozinha might not fit into the plans of the team's Argentine coach, Fernando Ortíz. Vozinha played a crucial role in Cabo Verde's historic debut in the World Cup, where the team reached the round of 32. He appeared in four matches, conceding five goals, and notably impressed in a 0-0 draw against Spain. He also made key saves against Argentina in a match that ended 3-2 in extra time.
