Colombia's De la Espriella promises 'unbeatable' ties with Argentina after Milei endorsement

Far-right presidential candidate Abelardo de la Espriella has pledged an "unbeatable relationship" with Argentina should he win the upcoming election. This promise follows an endorsement from Argentine President Javier Milei, revealed in a phone call released by De la Espriella's campaign.

During the call, De la Espriella told Milei, "Don't worry, the horrible night will soon cease, and we will establish an unbeatable relationship," referencing the administration of current Colombian President Gustavo Petro. Milei expressed his support and congratulated De la Espriella on his strong first-round performance, stating his hope for a "new stage in the relationship between our countries."

Milei also alluded to his ongoing tensions with Petro, asking De la Espriella, "Did you see how we don't get along very well with a character called Petro?" De la Espriella responded by asserting that left-wing proposals lead to "chaos" and "poverty," emphasizing the need to implement policies directly opposite to those favored by the left.

De la Espriella, representing the far-right Defensores de la Patria movement, has also garnered support from international right-wing figures, including former U.S. President Donald Trump.
