Colombian sculptor's 'Neurons' series to be exhibited in Germany

Colombian sculptor Gabriel Beltrán is set to bring his acclaimed 'Neurons' series to Germany, offering a new platform for Colombian art on the European stage. The collection, comprising 12 medium-sized figures, will be displayed at the workshop of German artist Jo Köser, located on the outskirts of Hamburg.

Beltrán's 'Neurons' series is crafted from burnished and polyurethane-painted steel. The sculptures stem from a deep reflection on the fundamental role of neurons in the human body, viewing them as the core of our energy and the intricate communication systems within our minds. "We think life is outside, but life is also within ourselves, which is vital: the drive to move, to reason, to be human," Beltrán explained.

This exhibition is particularly significant for Beltrán, who aims to promote Colombian artistry internationally. "For me, it is also about carrying the name of Colombia to northern Germany, so that we are united," he stated. The artist acknowledges that Colombian art currently has a limited presence in this European circuit, making this exhibition a crucial step.

In addition to the 'Neurons' series, the exhibition will feature some of Beltrán's larger sculptures, standing between one and 1.20 meters tall, which will be presented as outdoor garden pieces. With over three decades of experience and more than 300 exhibitions across numerous countries, Beltrán's work consistently explores the interplay between matter and time, utilizing materials like iron, bronze, and steel.
