Combi crashes into mototaxi, killing young father in Santa Anita; driver flees without helping

A tragic accident in the Santa Anita district of Peru has claimed the life of Junior Jorge Fermín Arias, a 25-year-old father of two, after the mototaxi he was traveling in was struck by a combi. The incident occurred on Sunday night, June 14, on a service road of Carretera Central, near the intersection with Colectora Industrial Avenue.

According to the victim's family, the public transport combi rear-ended the smaller vehicle while traveling at high speed. They further reported that the combi driver stopped only to let his passengers out before fleeing the scene, leaving the injured man without aid. Witnesses reportedly saw the combi driver stop, discharge passengers, and then escape without helping the victim.

Without immediate police or emergency services present, Junior Fermín was transported to the Hipólito Unanue Hospital in El Agustino, where his death was confirmed due to severe injuries. The victim leaves behind two young children, aged 6 and 4, who are now orphaned.

His sister, Flora Fermín, expressed the family's demand for justice, seeking the driver's apprehension and, if possible, financial compensation for her sister-in-law, who is now solely responsible for their children. The National Police of Peru has requested security camera footage from the Santa Anita Municipality to aid in the investigation, but the material had not yet been delivered at the time of reporting.
