Comedian trapped under 300kg fridge recounts 'most frightening night'

Social media comedian Laura Clery described her terrifying ordeal after being pinned beneath a refrigerator weighing almost 300 kilograms, calling it the "most frightening night of my life." The incident occurred when the appliance tipped over, trapping her against a kitchen counter. Clery, who is a single mother, was unable to move or breathe during the ordeal, with her young children present in the house.

She shared her gratitude through an Instagram video from an ambulance, thanking the emergency services, especially the firefighters, for their swift and life-saving intervention. "A huge thank you to these heroes who lifted that beast off me," she stated, visibly shaken but relieved. Clery detailed how the firefighters arrived rapidly, breached her garage door, and safely moved the heavy appliance, enabling her transfer to the trauma unit.

Clery, 39, expressed immense relief that she sustained no broken bones and that her children were unharmed. She recounted a peculiar moment during the rescue when one of the firefighters recognized her from her videos, which provided a brief, encouraging distraction. Despite her anxiety about receiving fentanyl due to being a recovering addict, the unbearable pain necessitated its use.

She later revealed that her son, Alfie, accidentally caused the refrigerator to tip over by climbing on it, as it was not properly secured to the wall. Clery announced her intention to pursue legal action against the contractors responsible for installing the refrigerator. She emphasized her good fortune in surviving the incident without severe injury.
