Commercial driver dies in autocrash on Lagos-Apapa Expressway

A fatal motor crash on the Lagos-Apapa Expressway has claimed the life of a commercial minibus driver. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident occurred Tuesday, involving the minibus and a Toyota Tundra.

According to LASTMA spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq, the minibus driver sustained severe injuries and died at the scene due to the collision's impact. LASTMA officials, on routine patrol, responded swiftly to the incident. They coordinated emergency operations, secured the crash site, and managed traffic to minimize disruption on the busy route.

Preliminary investigations conducted at the scene revealed that the driver of the commercial minibus sustained grievous injuries and died instantly due to the devastating impact of the collision.

The deceased driver's body was released to his family at the scene. The wrecked vehicles were removed from the road and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation into the crash's causes and to determine liability.

Despite the accident's disruption, LASTMA's quick intervention helped restore normal traffic flow relatively quickly. This latest fatality adds to a series of fatal crashes on Lagos highways, heightening concerns over road safety and adherence to traffic rules, even with ongoing enforcement efforts by authorities.
