Commercial driver killed in Lagos multi-vehicle collision

A commercial driver has died following a severe multi-vehicle collision on the Lagos-Apapa Expressway. The incident involved a commercial minibus and a Toyota Tundra, resulting in a devastating impact that claimed the driver's life.

Preliminary investigations conducted by security personnel at the scene revealed that the driver of the commercial minibus sustained grievous injuries and died instantly due to the devastating impact of the collision.

Adebayo Taofiq, spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), confirmed the incident. LASTMA operatives, who were on routine traffic monitoring, swiftly mobilized to the scene to coordinate emergency responses, secure the accident site, and manage traffic flow on the busy route.

The body of the deceased driver was handed over to his family at the scene. The vehicles involved were subsequently transferred to the police for further investigation into the crash's causes. The vehicles were thereafter handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for exhaustive investigation into both the immediate and remote causes of the crash, with a view to determining liability and facilitating any necessary legal proceedings.

Olalekan Bakare-Oki, General Manager of LASTMA, expressed condolences to the bereaved family. He admonished motorists, particularly commercial transport operators, to exercise heightened caution, comply with traffic regulations, and practice responsible driving at all times.
