Commonwealth Games: Sprinter's surprise, royal boredom, and netball upset

Australian sprinter Chloe Mannix-Power experienced a heartwarming surprise when her parents appeared in the stands to cheer her on during the women's 4x100m heats. Though she had a feeling they might be there, their presence was a welcome boost as she and her teammates qualified for the final.

I thought [my parents] were at home watching on the lounge, but no they're up in the top of the grandstand cheering me on. My parents love a surprise moment, they've done it before, so to be honest I kind of had a little feeling they would be up there, but they never tell me they're here until the end of the race.

Meanwhile, the royal family, including Prince William, Princess Catherine, and Prince George, attended various events. While the parents shared a message about the unifying power of sport after watching the netball semifinals, young Prince George seemed disengaged during a cycling event at the velodrome. The family also witnessed a major upset in the netball, where Jamaica defeated the Australian Diamonds.
