Concepción Police Arrest Two for Kidnapping and Robbing Elderly Couple

Concepción police have apprehended two Venezuelan citizens in connection with a violent robbery and kidnapping incident targeting an elderly couple. The crime occurred early Friday morning when the suspects allegedly forced their way into the victims' home in Quillón, located in the Ñuble Region.

According to reports, the assailants entered the couple's bedroom while they were asleep, gagged, bound, and assaulted them. Around 9:00 AM, the victims were transported to Concepción, where the male victim was coerced into withdrawing money from a bank. Subprefect Christian Irribarra, head of Concepción's Investigative Robbery Brigade (BIRO), detailed the events, highlighting the severity of the crime.

During their ordeal in Concepción, one of the victims managed to alert authorities, which directly led to the apprehension of the two suspects. The second victim, who had been abandoned in a rural area of Florida (Biobío Region), was later found safe and in good condition. The police also recovered stolen jewelry, cash, and electronic devices from the suspects.

The two accused individuals are scheduled for a control hearing before the Bulnes Guarantee Court in Ñuble. This incident underscores ongoing concerns about crime and security in the region, particularly affecting vulnerable populations like the elderly.
