Concerns Rise Over E-Cigarette Sales Near Santa Rosa School

Authorities in Santa Rosa, Misiones, are scrutinizing the alleged sale of electronic cigarettes and tobacco products near the Basic School No. 70. Councilwoman Romí Ruggeri has formally requested the municipal government to provide a report on any business permits issued for the sale of these items in proximity to the school.

The councilwoman highlighted that parents and school officials have expressed concerns about these sales. She pointed to national law that explicitly prohibits the sale of tobacco products within the vicinity of educational institutions. Ruggeri emphasized the municipality's responsibility to enforce this law and verify if any licenses have been granted for such businesses in the area.

The municipality is the one responsible for enforcing this law. It is extremely important to know whether or not any patent or commercial permit has been granted to these types of businesses in the area, as the regulation remains in force.

Ruggeri also voiced apprehension regarding the broader implications of these sales. She warned that the availability of legal drugs like e-cigarettes and alcohol could potentially lead to easier access to illicit substances for students. The councilwoman stressed that with the prevalence of illegal drugs, authorities cannot afford to be complacent about sales points near schools, which could become hubs for various substances.
