Conmebol and Venezuelan Football Federation Inaugurate Football Pitch in Caracas-La Guaira

In a gesture of resilience and support following the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, Conmebol and the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) have inaugurated a new football pitch in Ciudad Caribia. The facility, located on the Caracas-La Guaira highway, was officially opened on August 28, 2026, by Conmebol President Alejandro Domínguez and FVF President Jorge Giménez.

This new pitch is particularly significant as Ciudad Caribia is set to receive many families from La Guaira who lost their homes in the earthquakes. Conmebol President Domínguez stated, "They are learning a hard lesson, and we all have to know how to get back up." The inauguration included the unveiling of a plaque bearing a message of resilience, unity, and continental fraternity from both organizations.

Beyond the new pitch, Conmebol's investment under Giménez's leadership has supported other FVF projects, including the renovation of the FVF headquarters in Caracas and the construction of the National High Performance Center (CNAR) in La Carlota, which began in March 2026. The inauguration of the football pitch coincided with the commencement of construction for a third CNAR in Cabudare, Lara state.

This new center in Cabudare, also financed by Conmebol, is projected to include two professional-sized pitches (105 x 68 meters), accommodation for 132 people in 46 rooms, facilities for physical preparation, physiotherapy, medical evaluation, and tactical analysis, as well as areas for nutrition, recreation, and institutional management. The FVF estimates this project will create 65 permanent jobs and approximately 1,000 jobs related to event development.
