Consultant Fernando Cerimedo sends message from prison: 'My career and life were destroyed'

Fernando Cerimedo, a consultant, has proclaimed his career and life were unjustly destroyed after being placed in preventive detention for 180 days. He conveyed this message through his lawyers from the Palmasola prison, where he was transferred Friday night.

Cerimedo maintains his innocence, with his defense team asserting that the accusations against him are unproven. His lead attorney, Ernesto Giraldes, stated that Cerimedo is distressed by the court's decision but remains firm in his resolve to prove his innocence.

The defense has appealed the judge's ruling, arguing against the five procedural risks cited for the detention. They are seeking to have Cerimedo moved to house arrest, believing they can dismantle the grounds for his continued incarceration.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the alleged attack continues. Police arrested a man Saturday accused of supplying the weapon used in the incident. Additionally, a Colombian national, Hugo Castaño Zapata, surrendered to authorities, denying any involvement as a hitman.
