Contraband seizure: 13,000 items seized in Buenos Aires operation

Authorities in Buenos Aires seized over 13,000 clothing items and 250 pairs of sneakers in a large-scale operation targeting contraband in the Once district. The merchandise, valued at roughly 123 million pesos (approximately $500,000 USD), was allegedly smuggled into Argentina, bypassing customs controls.

The operation focused on nine commercial establishments within the La Juanita gallery, located in the Balvanera neighborhood. Investigations revealed that these businesses were distributing and selling imported products without the necessary documentation to prove their legal entry into the country. This led to a case for alleged violation of the Customs Code.

The City Police conducted the raids, with specialized personnel and customs verifiers inspecting the seized items and documentation. The judicial investigation, overseen by National Criminal Economic Court No. 1, aims to trace the origin of the goods and identify all individuals and establishments involved in the smuggling scheme. The seized items are now under the court's custody as the investigation continues to determine criminal and customs liabilities.
